28 марта 2025 в рамках проекта «Вместе» мы отправились на экскурсию в Каррик-Хилл на выставку «Моррис — страсть Аделаиды». На выставке были представлены вышивки, выполненные женщинами из семьи Барр-Смит по эскизам Уильяма Морриса, а также витражи, картины и множество других уникальных экспонатов.
On 28 March, as part of the “Together” project, we went on an excursion to Carrick Hill to see the exhibition “Morris — Adelaide’s Passion”. The exhibition featured embroideries created by the women of the Barr Smith family based on William Morris’s designs, as well as stained-glass works, paintings, and many other unique artefacts.
Мы смогли увидеть редкие образцы декоративно-прикладного искусства конца XIX — начала XX века, познакомиться с историей семьи Барр-Смит, их вкладом в культурную жизнь Аделаиды и ролью Морриса в развитии мирового движения искусств и ремёсел. Экскурсия получилась познавательной и вдохновляющей: яркие цвета, утончённые орнаменты и мастерство исполнения перенесли нас в эпоху, когда искусство стремилось стать частью повседневной жизни.
We were able to view rare examples of decorative and applied art from the late nineteenth to early twentieth centuries, learn about the history of the Barr Smith family, their contribution to Adelaide’s cultural life, and the role of Morris in the global Arts and Crafts movement. The excursion turned out to be both educational and inspiring: the vivid colours, refined patterns, and exquisite craftsmanship transported us to an era when art aspired to become part of everyday life.
